It's already been a month since the new year began, so it's time to do a status report on how I'm doing on my 109 in 2009 goals. Earlier this month, I wrote about how much I'd alread accomplished, having completed 7 of my goals in just the first half of the month. So, how did I do the rest of the month...
7. File federal taxes --My W-2 was posted online on Friday 1/30, so I was finally able to do my taxes. I'm getting a refund of $542.
8. File state taxes --I owe VA $2.
31. Pay Seat Deposit 1 -- I mailed the check for $500 to GW on Friday, 1/30.
33. Fill out FAFSA -- After I filed my taxes, I finished my FAFSA and submitted it.

Too funny...you owe $2.00. I don't think I have ever seen such a small amount owed by someone. That says you have done well at having the right amount taken out of your paycheck.
Great job on your goals.
wow, that is a hefty deposit!! is it refundable?
It's not refundable, but if you attend the school, they apply the deposits toward your tuition.
Question, why do you have to apply for FASFA? You wouldn't get any form of student aid? Do the student loan companies make you do that before getting any loan money? just curious.
If you want to get Stafford (federal) student loans, you have to fill out the FAFSA. I shouldn't need loans this year (and hopefully not ever), but you have to fill it out each year in the Spring in order to get loans for the upcoming school year.
omg that is too awesome!! i think it would be awesome as hell mailing a check for that ;)
actually, i've given out refunds @ work for as low as $0.10! the stamp cost more than that! haha...guess it all adds up though.
Looks like you're well on your way to making the 109 in 2009 goal! :) Yeehaw!
Do you have a charge card at Kohl's? They send coupons all the time if you have a charge card with them. You can usually save an additional 15 to 20% on your purchases. Just make sure you pay off that card every month! I'm enjoying your blog. Keep on saving!
